Hamilton Lombard's Biography
Hamilton Lombard is the Estimates Program Manager for the Demographics Research Group at the University of Virginia Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. His expertise is in demographic change, particularly the different components of population growth and decline, population estimates, school enrollment projections, and the effect of government policy on population patterns.
Hamilton has worked in local and regional planning in Virginia and the United Kingdom. He earned his B.A. in History and B.S. in Planning from the University of Virginia.

Between 2020 and 2023, Mecklenburg County lost 0.3 percent of its population, from 30,319 in 2020 to 30,232 — an estimated 87 people — primarily because the number of deaths exceeded the number of births.
The findings were published by the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia as part of an ongoing study of Virginia population trends between each ten-year census count.
