Economic Impact of Federal Job Loss: Slide Presentation
On April 8, 2025, Cooper Center researchers presented slides to the Virginia House of Delegates Emergency Committee on the Impacts of Federal Workforce and Funding Reductions that defined the scope of the issue and its effects on Virginia's economy, and offered reduction scenarios. Key findings include:

~ Virginia has more federal workers than nearly every other state
~ Virginia's federal workforce is highly educated and concentrated in national security
~ Federal jobs and contracting equal 16.1% of all full- and part-time jobs in Virginia
The team also presented the impact of proposed 1%, 5%, and 10% reductions of both federal civilian and federal armed forces employment, as well as explored the significance of federal contracting and its effects on the Virginia economy.
