Shirley Hamblet

Shirley joins the Weldon Cooper leadership team to coordinate logistics for the LEAD (Leading, Educating, and Developing) and SEI (Senior Executive Institute) programs. Originally from Richmond, VA, Shirley graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and has worked in meeting and event planning, the hotel industry, and in nonprofits.

Shirley moved back to Charlottesville from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina where she worked at the Outer Banks Community Foundation, managing 50 discrete scholarships as well as handling social media, marketing, membership, meetings, and events.

Before working with the Community Foundation, Shirley planned corporate meetings and events worldwide for clients choosing to educate or reward their employees or clients. Prior to that, she also enjoyed a hospitality career, managing food and beverage, sales, and operations in hotels.
